What you might not know about horoscopes..

Horoscopes in our lives

Have you ever been asked “What’s your sign?” or searched through the newspaper to find what your zodiac says about your day? Horoscopes are based on the science of astrology, which dates back as early as 3000 B.C. Mankind has always had a fascination with the universe, and astrology literally translates to “Science of the Stars”.

It is said that the ancient Greeks first explored the power of astrology, and later the Chinese developed their own version of the zodiac. Over the centuries, astrology has been used to create accurate horoscopes predicting future events both personally and globally. Still widely accepted as a powerful form of psychic art, reading the positions of the stars and planets can provide valuable insight into the inner workings of your life path.

Types of Horoscopes

Most people are familiar with the popular daily horoscopes. However, I found that by exploring the other forms of horoscopes available you are able to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your current life circumstances.

Here are descriptions of the two most commonly found forms of horoscopes that will help get you started in your astrological journey.

Natal Astrology

Natal astrology is probably the most common form of horoscopic astrology around the world, and is forms of it are found in both Western and Eastern philosophies. Based upon the position of the stars and planets at the exact time of your birth, the popular Western astrological chart can give you a deep understanding of your personality and the inner workings of your mind.

Most people are familiar with their Sun sign (Capricorn, Aquarius, etc.), but that is only one of the facets of natal astrology. With detailed descriptions of the planet positions at the time of your birth, the natal chart helps you identify the various aspects of your personality and can accurately predict the areas in life that you will struggle or excel in.

Chinese Horoscopes

While the ancient Greeks helped develop the form of Western astrology used today, the Chinese created another version of Eastern astrology that dates back to the Zhou Dynasty starting in 1046 B.C. Although both the Western and Eastern astrological methods are based upon the celestial positions surrounding your birth, the Chinese horoscopes have their own zodiac attached to them.

The Chinese zodiac is based upon the elements and animals, and it closely ties into the unifying theme of other Eastern philosophies. This zodiac correlates with the Chinese calendar, as each of the 12 zodiac signs last for an entire year. The Chinese believed that our destinies were directly related to the position of the stars and planets, and this type of horoscope can provide insight and predictions on the course of your life.

Daily vs. Monthly Horoscopes

Since Western astrology is the most commonly found in our culture, let’s take a closer look at the type of horoscopes it provides. While the natal chart can give detailed information on your personality and trends of where life will take you, daily and monthly horoscopes give a more immediate picture of what is going on. So which one is better? It all depends on what you are trying to find out!

  • Daily Horoscopes

A daily glimpse into your horoscope can be a very useful tool when trying to gain clarity on an immediate situation. Although not as in-depth as natal or monthly horoscopes, they can still provide you with general information to guide you through your day. Most people look at their Sun Sign’s horoscope, but for a deeper perspective I have found it very useful to read your Rising Sign’s daily forecast as well!

  • Monthly Horoscopes

Monthly horoscope readings tend to be my favorite way to use the information from astrology. More detailed than daily horoscopes and providing more immediate information than natal charts, monthly horoscopes are a nice balance of depth and clarity. By explaining how the course of your month will change based upon celestial events, you can get a view of the bigger picture of what is in store for you in the upcoming weeks and plan accordingly.

Where to Find an Accurate Horoscope

Finding an accurate horoscope can take a bit of research and may have different results for everyone. Just like finding a psychic reader, discovering the best source for your horoscope depends a lot on what you resonate with.

Some of the places you can find an accurate horoscope reading are:

  • Reputable websites

There are some excellent websites available that provide accurate horoscope readings – but there are also a lot of fakes as well! Use your best judgement in finding a site that works for you, and don’t be afraid to do a bit of research on the website’s credentials.

  • Trained Astrologers

Finding a psychic reader trained in astrology is likely your best bet for a detailed, personalized horoscope reading. Astrology is a science and can take years of study to fully understand. By taking the time to connect with someone trained in the art you will discover valuable guidance into the forecast of your life.

  • Books and Resources

If you are personally interested in astrology, there are a multitude of reputable resources available to start learning the craft for yourself! Once you have a solid understanding of how astrology works, you can practice forecasting your own life based upon your natal chart and astrological events.

Horoscopes are a powerful metaphysical tool. By finding a reputable reader and taking time to understand the deeper aspects of your personal astrological chart, you will find that horoscopes can be incredibly useful in making decisions and understanding the ever changing circumstances of your life.
